4/3 The Hornets lost to River Bluff 3-2. Caleb Heath took the loss on the mound. Alex Conaway led the Hornets at the plate going 3 for 4.
4/1 The Hornets lost 6-2 to Dutch Fork. Brandon Miller took the loss on the mound. Brandon Allison led the Hornets at the plate going 2 for 4
3/27 The Hornets lost 10-5 to White Knoll. Alex Conaway took the loss on the mound for the Hornets. Bryant Schmid was 2 for 4 at the plate for the Hornets.
3/26 Aiken 13 Barnwell 6. Blake Cantrell was the winning pitcher, Aiken pounded out 13 hits in the non region game. The Hornets are back on the field tonight in a region game against White Knoll. Game time is 7pm.
3/25 The Hornets defeated crosstown rival South Aiken 5-1 to move to 4-1 in region play. Alex Conaway drove in Caleb Heath with a basehit in the first inning to give the Hornets an early lead. Brandon Miller busted the game open with a bases loaded double to give the Hornets & Miller a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Miller also threw a complete game with 5 strikeouts. Conaway finished the game 3 for 4 with an RBI.
3/21 The Hornets picked up another region win defeating North Augusta 6-5. The Hornets took advantage of some NA miscues to score 5 in the second inning. Trey Johnson & Alex Conaway had RBI’s in the inning. Conaway also went the distance on the mound for the Hornets picking up his second victory of the season striking out 5 and not giving up a walk. Caleb Heath was 2 for 4 at the plate for the Hornets. The Hornets continue region play Tuesday at South Aiken.
3/20 Aiken was back in action again last night, as the Hornets traveled to River Bluff High School. Again the good guys found themselves in an early hole spotting the Gators a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Hornets scored two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2. River Bluff answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame pushing the lead back to 4-2.
Trailing by the same score in the top of the 7th Aiken got two big hits from Blake Cantrell (RBI double) and Hunter Farr (RBI single) to tie the score at 4. River Bluff was unable to score in their half which would send the game to extra innings. In the top of the 8th Bryant Schmid led of with a single to left. Jimmy Carver moved him to second on a sac bunt. A wild pitch allowed Schmid to move up to third with one out. After Keaton Allison grounded out to third their was now two outs and Schmid still at third. Brandon Miller stepped in and hit a ground ball in the hole between first and second and the second baseman was unable to field it cleanly allowing Schmid to score what would be the winning run. Austin Strickland pitched 5 strong innings before turning the ball over to Cantrell. River Bluff had the tying run at third with one out and Cantrell put that fire out by striking out the next two batters to end the game. Blake was the winning pitcher.
Aiken improves to 6-3 on the season with a 2-1 record in the region.
The Green Hornets are home Friday night as they battle region foe North Augusta. Game time is 7pm.
3/19 The Hornets lost 11-1 to Lexington. It was a tough night from the first inning on as Lexington used three two out doubles compounded with a throwing error to take an early 6-0 lead. The score would remain the same until the top of the fifth when Trey Johnson singled to left driving in what ended up being the only run of the night for the Hornets. In the bottom of the inning Lexington used another big inning to end the game by scoring five runs. Caleb Heath took the loss, and his record is now 2-1.
Aiken won its home opener Friday night 7-6 against Dutch Fork High school. The Hornets put themselves in a big hole early spotting the Silver Foxes a 6-0 lead after three innings. Aiken then settled in and slowly chipped away at the lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Aiken would load the bases trailing 6-2. After a sac fly, error, and back to back singles, the score was tied at 6. Both teams had several chances to end the game over the next six innings and were unable to do so. Finally, in the bottom of the 11th, Bryant Schmid laced a single to left to drive in Caleb Heath for the game winning run. The win put Aiken at 2-0 in the region and 5-2 overall. It also set up a showdown with Lexington High School on Tuesday night. Lexington enters the game with a record of 5-2 and 2-0 in the region.

3/12 The Hornets lost 6-2 to Fox Creek. Jimmy Carver had an RBI triple & Keaton Allison had an RBI single for the Hornets. Caleb Miller to the loss on the mound.
3/11 The Hornets defeated White Knoll in their region opener 7-3. Caleb Heath got the win on the mound for the Hornets pitching 6 innings. Heath was also 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. The Hornets record is now 4-1 after going 3-1 in their preseason tournament.
Preseason Tourney Game 1 was against Clinton High School. Alex Conaway was the starting pitcher and went the distance earning his first win of the season by a score of 9-4. Game 2 was against Dreher High School in the freezing cold weather. Caleb Heath was the starting pitcher going 5 innings and earning the win 12-2. Game 3 Brandon Miller was the starting pitcher in a offensive struggle. Miller was in complete control of the game allowing 2 hits while going the distance in a complete game 1-0 shutout to earn the win against Irmo High School. Game 4 was the championship game against Mid-Carolina High School. Alex Conaway was on the mound again only this time Aiken was on the losing end of things. With the score tied at 1 and two outs in the bottom of the fourth, the wheels came off defensively and by the time we came back around it was too late. Mid-Carolina won the game 8-2 to earn the Carolina Ale House Invitational.
