Hornet Football results

9/3  The Hornets moved to 2-0 on the season with a 27-19 victory over Crestwood.  The Hornets used 4 big plays for 4 TD’s and the defense held off a late charge by Crestwood to remain undefeated on the young season.  Billy Vickers connected with John Griffin for a 75-yard TD to open up the scoring for the Hornets.  Vickers found Griffin again on a 36-yard TD in the 2nd quarter.  C.J. Dunbar returned a fumble 55 yards for a TD, and Johnnie Williams returned a fumble 35 yards to close out the scoring for the Hornets.  Crestwood gave the Hornets some trouble on special teams blocking two punts to make the score a little closer.  The Hornets have their home opener Friday vs. Midland Valley.  

8/27  It took the Hornets just 5 plays to find the endzone on the first possession of the young season against Silver Bluff as Billy Vickers connected with Devon Johnson for a 28 yard TD.  The Hornets stretched the lead to 14-0 when Quinton Smith picked up a Silver Bluff fumble and rambled 34 yards for another TD.  Aaron Griffin then found the endzone on a 35 yard TD run to give the Hornets a 21-6 lead going into halftime.  Silver Bluff found the endzone on their first drive of the second half, but the Hornets would score again as Devontai Pope found the endzone from 4 yards out after a 35 yard pass from Vickers to John Griffin.  The final score was 28-13.

8/13  The Hornets defeated Williston 14-6 in their quarter of the the football jamboree.  The Hornets first play from scrimmage was a 52 yard run from Brian Gaines. The Hornets finished off the drive with a 23-yard pass from Billy Vickers to John Griffin.  Aaron Griffin capped off the second scoring drive with a 16 yard TD run.
